Come volunteer with Girlguiding Bristol West

Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. By volunteering with us, you can help us create amazing opportunities for thousands of girls around the UK.

Guiding happens thanks to more than 100,000 amazing volunteers – men and women like you who give their time to ensure that we are active all over the UK, and beyond.stall

Everyone is Welcome

Girlguiding welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities. We are flexible and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle. Don’t believe us? We have leaders who are Doctors, volunteers who are nurses, students and full time mums. Check out why they volunteer by clicking below.

Volunteer2

You can volunteer to help out in Clifton, Stoke Bishop, Westbury-on-Trym, Henbury, Brentry, Shirehampton, Lawerence Weston, Sea Mills and Avonmouth with:

Rainbows aged 5 – 7

Brownies aged 7 – 10

Guides aged 10 – 14

Rangers aged 14 – 18

Ways to get involved

Whether it’s an hour or two every few months or a regular weekly commitment, there are lots of ways to volunteer with us.

Unit Leader and Assistant Leader

Every Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Senior Section unit has at least one Leader, who has completed the Girlguiding Leadership Qualification. Leaders have overall responsibility for the unit, although this is often shared between a team. Leaders and Assistant Leaders work with the girls to plan activities and to ensure that finances and records are kept up to date.

Unit Helpers

Helpers are brilliant and help the unit to keep running. They  can help out either on a rota system, or just whenever they can giving them the flexibility and freedom to give whatever time they’re able to.

Support Roles

If you want to be part of Girlguiding but don’t have the time to commit regularly, there are plenty of important jobs that can be done in your own time and from your own home that really make a difference. You could:

  • help with the accounts or admin
  • lend a hand with fundraising for a group trip
  • help out with DIY at a meeting place
  • Help on a trip
  • Become a committee member for the division
  • take part in a one-off session with your local unit, teaching the girls skills (anything from Judo to gardening) to help them acquire a badge.
